How to Install a Quick Chain Link?

The quick link is often a different color from the rest of the chain, making it easier to locate. Place your bike on a repair stand, leaving the rear wheel free. Use a specific chain tool or pliers designed for quick links, and position the tool on either side of the link.

Gently squeeze the tool so that the link retracts, allowing you to separate it with your other hand.

How to Install a Quick Link?

Gently squeeze the pliers so that the link retracts, allowing you to separate it with your other hand.

You can then hold the chain in both hands, making sure not to damage it as you detach it, but without letting it go suddenly. This way, you can remove it without any issues to clean it. You can also replace your chain just as easily by keeping the quick link handy and installing it on the new chain.
