Mountain bike bags: carry the bare essentials

Today, many mountain bikers have switched from the traditionnal Bottle & Frame Cage to a backpack with a water pouch. These MTB hydration bags allow you to carry water and quench your thirst throughout your hike. These bags also allow you to carry tools, nutrition and first-aid products... everything you need to have a good ride!
Many bag brands and models have developed in the past few years (Camelbak, Dakine, Evoc, Mavic, Prism...).
The prices vary from about thirty euros to about 300 euros, depending on the many parameters you'll have to consider and, first of all, the use you want to make of your bag.
It's obvious that your choice of bag will be very different if you plan to do small hikes or itinerant raids of several days.

Choose your MTB bag according to several criteria

- the bag's volume of the bag (less than 10L to more than 40L) expressed in litres,
- the existence or not of a water bag compartment and its volume,
- the weight,
- the back protector,
- ventilation at the back,
- holding and adjustment of the bag (the backpack shoudn't move),
- the existence or absence of a rain cover, a helmet attachment and protections, the number of pockets and their capacity (tools, glasses, camera, telephone, cards...), fixing for the lamp , the whistle…
