The main characteristic highlighted by Gravel bike users is versatility.

This type of bike adapts well to all types of terrain and allows you to explore all kinds of landscapes. This fact must be taken into account when choosing components. In order to choose gravel pedals, it is important to consider how you will use them.

The different types of gravel pedals

Flat pedals: Flat pedals are less "traumatic" than automatic pedals. They allow the cyclist more freedom of movement because they do not block the feet. They also allow for quicker disengagement in case of a fall. For bikepacking, when performance is not the goal, some of these pedals allow for easier changes in position and descent.
Automatic pedals: These pedals require shoes with cleats. Depending on your riding style, these pedals will be closer to road bike pedals or mountain bike pedals. Automatic pedals have more or less support surfaces offering different pedalling experiences. In response to increasing demand, some brands have developed specific Gravel pedal ranges.
Hybrid pedals: Hybrid pedals can be very interesting for gravel riding. They give the user the choice of clipping on their shoes or leaving their feet free. When travelling, for example, and alternating between long periods of pedalling and frequent stops, they can be particularly practical.
