Hoka One One
Hoka shoes: cushioning and lightness
Hoka One One is a brand born in 2010 that offers to runners running shoes with exceptional cushioning. Indeed, the oversized sole has 50% more cushioning than a classic running shoe, which makes it possible to better absorb the shocks that runners face, and provide them with maximum comfort and stability. Their joints are preserved and the risk of injury is drastically reduced.
The curved profile of the Hoka shoes and the low drop allow for a smooth foot movement. Tthey are lightweight and offer good support. They are adapted to any type of ground thanks to different stud sizes, and are intended for both the beginner and professional runner.
Jean-Luc Diard and Nicolas Mermoud, the two founders, aim to offer runners running shoes that allow them to feel pleasure akin to flying in the air; this is what they wanted to transmit via the name 'Hoka One One', which means 'soaring over the land' in Maori and their slogan is 'Time to fly'.
The small SME grew fast and, in 2013, the American giant of the shoe, Deckers Outdoor, buys the brand.
Hoka One One for trail and road
The Hoka One One offer was initially centered on shoes for trails, but today the brand offers running shoes for road racing and spikes/studs for track.
Hoka also developed hydration bags and a textile range with tee shirts for men and women.
Hoka One One sponsors ultra-trail riders and is a partner in major French events such as the Nice half-marathon and the Bordeaux marathon.
