Classic road bike speed lever

The classic road speed handle, or mechanical, is what allows the cyclist to change gears. Located on the handlebar, it's integrated into the brake lever. Shifting is usually done with the index finger by placing hands on the buds or at the bottom of the handlebar. When the road speed control is operated, it pushes a cable that will move the derailleur and then switch from a gear to another.

Electric speed handle

The electric road speed leves are more and more developed, they are part of an electric transmission system and allow to change the speeds faster and more precisely. Easier to handle, the electric road speed controls are also heavier and more expensive than classic road speed handles. Shimano Di2 and Campagnolo EPS were the first e-bike groups to be launched on the market. Then Sram launched their E-tap range a bit later.
